About Alexia

I have always been intrigued by the philosophy of ancient cultures, and specifically the ancient Greeks where holistic well-being included creative expression, the journey of the soul, and our relationship with nature's infinite wisdom. My own curiosity and personal awakening through the experience of burnout, led me to deepen my appreciation of consciousness, energy, spirituality, and ancient wisdom. I have had the privilege to learn, (and continue to learn), from a variety of master teachers to whom I am eternally grateful.

I have an extensive background in Naturopathic Medical Education as former Associate Dean of Clinical Studies at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, and as clinical faculty and lecturer at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine for 15 years. As a keynote speaker I have presented at various conferences/organizations including: the University of Toronto, Healing Skies Naturopathic Conference, Global Webinar on Traditional and Integrative Medicine, and the American Association for Naturopathic Medical Education.

I am continually reminded that the health of our inner self (soul/spirit) is fundamental to overall well-being. I believe we are here to express our unique creativity with integrity, share our individual wisdom to help others, and respect all of Creation. This, for me, is Embodied Vitality.

I look forward to walking with you.

Patience to Bloom: Agave Wisdom

For me, what makes the agave so remarkable is the effort and focus needed for one specific outcome – to bloom. On average, it takes an agave plant 25 years for its central flower spike to grow as tall as possible. Once this happens, the agave blooms. It reproduces itself via seed and vegetative cloning, […]

“Be Yourself:” My Lesson From The Dalai Lama

About twenty years ago I had the privilege of seeing His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Toronto. Even though I was seated in the nosebleed section, I was amazed at the power of his presence. When he walked on stage tears spontaneously ran down my cheeks. It was as if my heart opened so […]

The Armour of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the hardest of all heart-centred qualities to embody, and yet it is the most powerful and most protective. “For giving,” means the angst, pain, rage, resentment, and the desire for vengeance are not for us to carry or hold on to, as this closes our hearts, and creates divisiveness – an “us and […]

Healing My Sole In The Desert

In and around the city of Palm Springs there are numerous breathtaking hikes. A recent favourite area of mine is called Indian Canyons – the sacred land of the Agua Caliente band of Cahuilla Indians. On one of the hikes, a friend and I inadvertently added three miles to our planned 6 mile hike. The […]

Embodied Vitality

I wish to acknowledge the traditional territory and the traditional keepers of the land upon which I practice medicine and live. Today the meeting place of Toronto (from the Haudenosaunee word Tkaronto) is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and I am grateful to have the opportunity to work and live on this land.
