I took this photo at a train station on my way to my late father’s village in Greece. The shadows and silhouette lighting reminded me how often I have wondered; “Where am I going? Am I making the right choices? Where should I be? What am I waiting for?
These questions create doubt and disconnection from our true nature within. We might feel lost in the dark on a train going nowhere, feeling overwhelmed by choice, especially when we are searching for clarity, feeling unsatisfied, restless or simply bored. This is how the mind keeps us trapped in suffering, disconnected from the wonder and mystery of the present moment.
Fortunately, there’s a powerful saying to interrupt the mind’s spinning: No matter what we choose, where we live, what our work is, who our partner is, the soul will have its lessons.
For me there is ease when I feel the truth of this wisdom. My shoulders relax and I am more present in the direct experience of my own life. Ultimately, there are no mistakes, no “wrong” choices, nothing is random. Regrets become lessons, to deepen our wisdom. The key is choosing to evolve, and to see beyond the story.
This is not to say that planning isn’t helpful, rather it is the attachment to the planning and especially to the believed outcome, that block us from accessing the support of Souce Consciousness/Creator/God.
Breathe in , and let go of the illusion you have control. You are on the train of life, and you are exactly where you need to be.
